Commander Data, when presented with the threat of the Borg invading the Enterprise, goes on a mission to the engineering deck in an attempt to stop the cybernetic invaders. He is captured and tormented by the Borg Queen, who seems to understand that Data is seeking to be more like the humans he works with. She reactivates his emotion chip and even grafts human skin onto different parts of his body in order to tempt him into working with the Borg and, eventually becoming her King. While distracted with the inputs from his new skin, Data is still able to free himself from her grip and unleash the coolant in the warp plasma tanks, liquefying all of the Borg's organic components. Gone too is Data's new found skin. In this act, Data proves that he is growing more human, as he is willing to face the sacrifice of his growth to save his Captain and his crew.
