Ro Laren was a Bajoran national who enlisted and served in Starfleet aboard the USS Enterprise-D, under Captain Picard. She was assigned as conn officer piloting the Enterprise through several rough spots, including a temporal loop that caused the Enterprise to crash into the USS Bozeman. Her final mission with the Enterprise was infiltrating the Maquis, Federation citizens rebelling against the Cardassian occupation of their homes. Ro gained their trust, but soon saw the plight of the Maquis resonated in her own heart, and left the Enterprise, apologizing to Picard for her betrayal.
