Located near the planet Bajor, the Deep Space Nine space station is the last stop on the trip through a wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant. On board, many different races and individuals must learn to get along with one another as they explore new frontiers and civilizations.
Prior to being stationed as the commander of Deep Space Nine, Benjamin Sisko was the captain of the USS Saratoga, one of a few ships that was not completely destroyed at the Battle of Wolf-359 against the Borg. Sisko and his son, Jake, survived the battle but his wife was killed. He would go on to lead the Federation presence at Deep Space Nine, working hand in hand with the Bajorian military, and having to deal with border disputes with the Cardassians, Klingons and other visitors that would come through the wormhole from the Gamma Quadrant. Among his pastimes, was his love for baseball. He even went so far as to create an amateur team called the Niners to play against the Vulcan Logicians.
