Bounding off of the success of 3 3/4" comic book multi-packs from the early 2000s, Hasbro released a number of comic book 3 3/4" 2-packs beginning in 2008 and are still currently being released. While very few newly sculpted pieces were incorporated in the production of the packs, they did feature a variety of retooled and repainted figures and accessories as well as a high-quality reprint of either a modern or classic G.I. Joe comic. Later in the line, newly written comics created exclusively for these 2-packs were penned by G.I. Joe legend Lary Hama and featured covers and interior art by renown industry professionals.
Using a combination of parts from previously released figures from 2007 and 2008, this version of Scrap-Iron more closely resembles his vintage A Real American Hero outfit from the early 1980s. His accessories are virtually identical to the original release but now sports a removable visor, a feature first given to the Cobra Arctic Extreme Conditions boxed set release of Scrap-Iron in 2008.
Wild Bill has turned up several times since the 2007 25th anniversary figures first appeared, and this release features recycled body parts and accessories found with Captain Ace and previous Wild Bill figures. His paint job has been revised to more closely match his comic book and cartoon series appearances in the early 1980s.
