Yo Joe!
Mercenary Wraith (Counter Intelligence)

Character Bio:
By Vince Zannelli

File Name: Halifax, Charles
Primary Military Specialty: Espionage
Secondary Military Specialty: Covert Operations
Birthplace: Lyon, France

Bio: MERCENARY WRAITH was known for years by the G.I. Joe team and the COBRA organization. Each group hoped that the skilled spy and fighter would choose to join them. In the end, DESTRO was the only one who discovered what MERCENARY WRAITH truly lived for: chaos and destruction. MERCENARY WRAITH doesn't care about causes or sides, right or wrong; he cares only about the next mission or battle, the next chance to cause harm. Using stolen technology, he acquired a stealth assault suit that makes him virtually invisible. He is protected from weapons fire by impenetrable ceramic plates and is an expert marksman with built-in forarm cannons. The only flaw in the suit is that an outline of him can be seen if he moves too fast, but by then he is so close to his target that you only get a quick, shadowy glimpse before MERCENARY WRAITH makes his move. "Do you ever get the feeling that someone is watching you, even when no one is in sight? That creeping feeling on the back of you neck could be telling you that I am next to you, ready to strike."

Incorporated from the popular Devils Due G.I. Joe comic book series, the back story of Wraith was written as if he had coexisted during the era of the vintage A Real American Hero line in the 1980s, as both G.I. Joe and Cobra had knowledge of his existence. Skeptical fans and collectors have warmed up to this stealthy addition to the Cobra organization since his special cloaking ability does mesh well with the often campy plot devices which were prevalent in the original G.I. Joe series. Of particular note is the chase version of Wraith, which Hasbro included roughly once in every six cases of figures. The chase version was made of a transparent blue plastic and was entirely see-through with the exception of his face; once the facemask was removed, Wraith's painted face could be seen underneath. Wraith (both regular and chase versions) was made using the torso, upper arms and upper legs of the 25th Anniversary Snake Eyes (v.3) figure, with an entirely new head and newly sculpted lower arms and lower legs. His accessories include a facemask, futuristic machine gun, backpack, and stand.
