CTR'S MATTEL BOOTH GALLERY

There are many products from Matty's new and existing lines that promise to be a big hit for collectors.

One unexpected and exciting stand-out was the reveal of product from James Cameron's upcoming sci-fi epic, AVATAR. Mattel owns the master toy license for the film, and on display in their booth are some very promising toy lines, including 3.75" figures with appropriately scaled vehicles! Also in the Mattel AVATAR area is a lifesize prop of the Mech suit used be the heroes in the film. This is an obvious jaw-dropper in person.

The DC Universe line continues to grow and become more diverse. In fact, Mattel employs are literally asking fans and collectors to help them decide future figures in the line!

He-Man and Masters of The Universe figures are continuing to pull in diehard and longtime collectors with their nostalgic line produced with modern production values. Approximately one (1) new figure a month will be released in this line in 2009 & 2010.

Ghostbusters fans can also rejoice, as Mattel will be releasing some fantastic 7" scaled figures (which will be available exclusively through their MattyCollector.com site). This line kicked off here at SDCC with an exclusive Egon figure! Also coming will be detailed collector 12" figures, priced around $60 each (and also soon to be available exclusively at MattyCollector.com).

But perhaps the biggest surprise was the unveiling of a new 12" General Zod action figure with a nice likeness of Terance Stamp from Superman II! So, what does this mean? Could this just be the first of more Superman II 12" figures to come? Hmm...
