Bio: TRIPWIRE is an accident waiting to happen. He's clumsy, jittery, all thumbs and a nervous wreck around people, unless he's working with high explosives. Then he's calm and collected, with the skill and precision of a surgeon. He spent two years in a Zen monastery, pondering the meaning of life, until he was expelled for breaking too many dishes and spilling every liquid in sight. Determined to make something of his shortcomings, he joined the Army and found his calling on the grenade range. Something about setting off explosives and watching bombs bursting in the air relaxes him. Hard to believe for a guy who seems to trip over air. His ease around explosives is why he is so cool and clam while hovering above a sea of red-hot lava to retrieve the metallic element for the M.A.S.S. Device machine. "You need to know everything there is about explosives before you ever go near them. I make sure anything that does boom only does so when we want it to."
This version of Tripwire is based on his original 1983 series 2 release, and is a near-exact rerelease of the wave 5 (Aug. '08) comic book two-pack Hasbro release of the same figure. However, this release features the yellow M.A.S.S. Device element in its canister, and the grey colored pads on the figure itself have been made a slightly lighter shade of grey than the previous release (though many of the darker comic book two-pack color schemes can be found on this single carded release). Other accessories include: backpack, 3 mines, mine detector, and stand.
