Friday The 13th Part IX: Jason Goes To Hell (1993)
Director: Adam Marcus
Writers: Story: Jay Huguely & Adam Marcus; Screenplay: Dean Lorey & Jay Huguely
They brought back the big guns for this one. Produced by series originator Sean S. Cunningham, Jason Goes to Hell brings us a new combination, Jason Voorhees plus The Hidden-like parasite monster of evil. Should Cronenberg have sued?
The film opens with an FBI set-up, trapping Jason (Kane Hodder) and then blowing him not quite to hell (yet). His bits end up at the morgue where the Corner (Richard Gant) takes a big bloody bite of Jason’s heart, transferring the evil to himself and then going on a kill-crazy-rampage.
Bounty Hunter, Creighton Duke (Steven Williams) then enlists Jason’s sister, Jessica (Kari Keegan) to find him and end these shenanigans once and for all because only a Voorhees can kill a Vorhees. Throughout the film Jason’s essence gets passed around like a Henry Manfridini scored version of hot potato; that is if the potato was gooey parasite that crawled from one’s host mouth to another. Raimi’s Book of the Dead gets a cameo in this film, as well as Freddy’s claw (played by Hodder).
