Hasbro: What's Up With The Marvel Universe?
Posted by Curto on August 7, 2008 at 03:30 PM CST:
The Marvel Universe. For many comic book fans, this is where many of our favorite heroes and villains reside, with a huge cast of characters from across the cosmos and the epic battles are played out on the printed pages for our enjoyment.
In recent years, the adventures have spilled out into various animated television series and more recenlty, on the big screen in feature films. But nothing sparks the imagination of fanboys everywhere more than grabbing ahold of toy representations of their favorite super-heroes and bashing them together for control of their own personal universe.
Ever since Hasbro picked up the Marvel license, fans have been wondering if they would go to the 3?" scale. Hell yeah they are! And it's not a small launch either..oh no, Hasbro took their time rolling out the announcement in order to do it right and proper (although savvy CTR readers may recall that this line was hinted at months ago).
Making their official debut during San diego Comic-Con, the new Marvel Universe line will be vast! hasbro has teamed up with ToyBiz and Gentle Giant to create a huge series of action features. Superstar artsits Frank Cho has done many of the illustrations for the packaging, and the results are outstanding! (Trsut me, I've held a few of them in my own hands...these are great figures!)
This line-up includes: Black Panther Bullesye Daredevil Green Goblin Hulk Hulk (Gray variant) Human Torch Human Torch (Johnny Storm variant) Iron Fist Iron Man Iron Man (Stealth Armor) Punisher Ronin Silver Surfer Spider-Man Ultimate Captain America Wolverine (X-Force costume)
But wait, there's more! Not shown below, but revealed during Hasbro's Marvel panel, were: Blade the Vampire Hunter Colossus Hand Ninja Hobgoblin Hulk (Red) Iron Man (classic costume...with pointy mask variant!) Moon Knight Ms. Marvel (with classic costume variant) Punisher (all-black costume) Spider-Man (Black costume) Thing Thor Ultimate Nick Fury Union Jack Plus a very special Marvel Universe Nick Fury mailaway...with a head sculpt based on Marvel's own Jesse Falcon!
