TF2008 PR: Hasbro Marvel Comics
Posted by Curto on February 28, 2008 at 12:00 PM CST:
While there's a lot of attention focused on the upcoming feature films for Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, the rest of the Marvel Universe has not been forgotten. Just check out some of what Hasbro has planned for 2008.

Marvel Legends
The Marvel Legends line will only see a few waves this year, starting with two waves that you might have heard about....featuring characters from the Hulk franchise. There will be 2 waves of 4 figures, and extra parts for the BAF, which will be a 15" Fin Fang Foom (who must have been promoted from Thor and Iron Man's rogue's gallery). Wave 1 consists of Absorbing Man, She-Hulk, Wendigo, and Hulk from Hulk: The End. Wave 2 wasn't officially revealed, but check out the old rumor lists for those figures. As part of a special San Diego Comic-Con exclusive offer, there will be 2008 sets available where all 8 figures (and Foom) can be purchased together as a set.

But what about the rest of the Marvel Universe? There will be 8 different 2-packs in 2008, two of which were shown. Look for Ultimate Captain America (WWII) and Ultimate Nick Fury from The Ultimates comic book series. In addition, a new version of Elektra is back with Ronin from the pages of The New Avengers. Variant hunters should also be on the lookout for a Skrull variant for Elektra as well, tying in nicely to the current "Invasion" storyline.

For this year's Comic Con, there will be an excluvie set of Ka-Zar, Shanna, and Zabu with all-new artwork from Shanna the She-Devil artist Frank Cho.

Super Hero Squad
It's the little line with BIG plans! There were 120 characters released in 2007 for this series! hasbro has a lot of love for these little guys, and they're going deep into the hallowed halls of mighty Marvel to come up with the wildest selection of super heroes and villains EVER! Aside from what you can see above, other names mentioned were Shang Chi and Nighthawk (what, no Sleepwalker?)

There will also be themed sets for fans this year as well, assembling characters together from teams or classic storylines.

Mighty Muggs
The Mighty Muggs craze that was kicked off by Star Wars will continue here in the Marvel universe. Look for 16 figures this year, released in 4 waves. Plus, there will be an exclusive Captain America and Iron Man excluvie available at Comic Con.

And The Rest!
Other toy lines shown off were a pair of Marvel Transformers (featuring Iron Man and Hulk, 'natch), and the Unleashed line of Spider-Man figures continues with an Iron Man figure.
