Toy Fair 2014: Hasbro's GI Joe Kre-O
Published by Anibal on February 18, 2014 at 12:57 AM CST |

Just when I questioned where Hasbro would go with their Toys R Us with their GI Joe Kre-O line in a non-movie or TV year, I am happy to report that the line has expanded with another 12 mini-figures blind packs, multi-vehicle sets, and one humongous Cobra playset to rival the block GI Joe headquarters from years past.

Joining the 24 predecessors, the series three Kre-O mini-figures include three army builders: the flight jet trooper, the polar assault Eel (presumably the Snow Serpent), and the night creeper. The Cobra specialists assisting them include Anti-Armor specialist Scrap-Iron, Dreadnok Tom "Torch" Winken, and one half of the Crimson Gaurd twins, Tomax. Filling out the Joe ranks are Carl "Doc" Greer, Andrew "Footloose" Meyers, Nunchuk, Atomic Man, Low-Light, and Lady Jaye. Twelve Series four figures are Alpine, Nemesis Enforcer, Britain's Action Man, Chuckles, Wet Suit, Night Viper, Zartan, Cobra Bazooka Trooper, Airborne, Viper, Budo, and Tripwire.

After the blind packs, the new vehicle set is the Outpost Defender featuring Beachhead, and includes the Cobra Ferret ATV with Storm Shadow. curiously, it's the converted GI Joe Storm Shadow driving the Ferret. Perhaps he took out the Cobra Trooper and is driving his spoils of war back to home base. The other set is the Firebat Attack set. This includes the Firebat and its pilot (A.V.A.C.). To ward of the Firebat, Recondo and Sergeant Bazooka engage in battle with the Wolverine tank. Sadly, a Kre-O Wolverine tank driver Cover Girl is nowhere to be found.

The Firebat will have no choice but to return to its home base, the massive Fall 2014 set: the Cobra Terror Drome! This Cobra fortress houses a cobra trooper, the other twin Crimson Guard Commander Xamot, and Cobra Emperor Serpentor with Air Chariot. The GI Joe component of this impressive set has the Sky Hawk vehicle. Three final a Joe mini figures included are General Hawk, Gung Ho, and Mainframe.

Block figures and building sets are in vogue right no with no signs of slowing down. Thankfully, Hasbro found a way to rekindle interest for our favorite Real American Heroes in a brand new play environment. The Terror Drome is an awe-striking piece, and fall can't come soon enough for me. The little war rages on, courtesy of a Toys R Us.
