Mattel Q&A Session: The Answers
Posted by Curto on October 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM CST:
As part of Mattel's bi-weekly Q&A session, Cool Toy Review passed on 3 of your burning questions and now we've got the answers for you.
Cool Toy Review: When Mattel first released JLU figures, there were rumors of Batman/Solomon Grundy 2 pack to be released alongside the Superman/Lex Luthor 2 pack which ended up being cancelled. Was this the same Grundy figure that was released as a convention exclusive? If not, how far did this particular Grundy get, was a prototype ever created?
Mattel: To be honest with you, the folks who worked on the line in those days are no longer the same team managing the DCU brand today, so it is a bit hard to find a direct answer. But in all likelyhood, this Solomon Grundy became the SDCC figure. Many many times, figures go through quite an organic process starting out as one thing and for a variety of reasons gets released in a different way or through a different channel. Sorry we can?t confirm anything more than that on this question!
Cool Toy Review: When the JLU Kilowog figure was released, the head sculpt was decent, but his body wasn't. Kilowog should be along the same scale as a Ultra-Humanite or Grodd figure. Are there plans to give him the treatment he deserves?
Mattel: Yeah, we do recognize that Kilowog should have been a bit bigger, and as stated in the last answer, the folks running the DCU brand are a different group then those managing it years ago when it was more of a kid aimed line. There are a ton of great characters we want to get to first, but it is possible down the road we could do a new Kilowog. But nothing is in the cards at the moment.
Cool Toy Review: On the pallet displays for the CARS cars, there is a picture of a Cars-type Wal-Mart tractor trailer. Are there plans to possibly make this into a future Wal-Mart exclusive?
Mattel: Yup!
If you have questions for the team, please post them in our forums, and we'll pass them on for you. |
