What We Can Expect With The Selects Line
You'll notice there is a reissue of Venom mentioned above. Zach said that we can expect more reissue as people demand it. This was a particularly requested figure, so keep vocalizing if you want more reissues. This is also the 20th anniversary of Marvel Selects, so there will be some special figures.
Regarding the NBX reissues, it is unclear at this point what accessories they will contain but they are likely close to the original releases minus the display part. Zach did say there is still consideration regarding issuing the diorama parts again but no specifics. As long as this line continues to do well there could be a wave 11 with some of the background characters that have never been made before in any line.
We can expect more Disney Store exclusives this year in the Marvel and Star Wars line. No specifics on the Star Wars line, however we might be expecting at least one OTC character.
What's Different and Upcoming
As you may have previously seen the Disney Afternoons line is launching with a Darkwing Duck figure and a Gargoyles Goliath minibust. We can expect more from this line in the near future.
A new TV license is on the horizon and may have an item debuting at SDCC. No specifics here, just that it is a network TV license. More to come.
We were also told about a new actor line, similar to the Bruce Lee line. Again no specifics at this point, but we are told it is a current actor who has been active since the '80's.
We can expect to see more of the GI Joe and Transformers line, particularly in the form of minimates and statues. We'll get Transformers Mimimates series 3 and perhaps some G1 statues or busts.
Speaking of Minimates, this is the 20th anniversary of that line as well. There will be a new logo and formatting on the packaging. Also in the works is that going forward, all six figures will come in a box set. Which should make it easier for people to get the whole wave.
Lastly, for those of you waiting on a shipping update from Gentle Giant, it is coming. Also coming is a new system that updates more frequently.
On The Horizon
With regards to the LOTR line, some figures from the Hobbit are being considered. Also there are discussions about larger characters but nothing definitive.
Regarding SDCC exclusives this year, there will be a large mix of products featuring licenses such as Marvel, Star Wars, Transformers, and GI Joe. It is too early to reveal specifics, but hopefully there will be an in person SDCC this year. This announcements typically go out in the weeks before SDCC and we'll be certain to cover them.
We talked more about the potential wave 11 for the NBX line. Nothing is decided at this point and will heavily depend on how the reissues go. Zach said some potential characters in wave 11 could be the Gatekeeper, the Frankenstein's monster, the Witch with apple, and the Grim Reaper. Again, nothing is planned but the fact that it is being discussed is enough to get us excited.
