Mattel: 2013 Club Eternia Subscriptions Update
Via the Mattel forums, Scott "Toyguru" Neitlich has stated that as of today, Mattel is only at 46% of the total subscriptions needed to move forward with the 2013 Masters Of The Universe Classics Club Eternia subscriptions. He also goes on to state that if Mattel does not hit their 100% mark of total subscriptions needed, the action figures could go up as high as $30 - $35 per figure and likely 4-6 figures will be made all year. As this has created confusion for people already locked in with subscriptions, there is also an uncertain future for this line. Stay tuned as Toyguru releases additional information. Full Report

2012 San Diego Comic-Con: The Super7 Booth
Remember those cool Alien figures Kenner released in 1979? Oh yeah, they never released them. The world wasn't ready for Star Wars quality figures based on an R rated film back then and what could have been another crucial piece of our childhoods was taken away from us and we didn't even know it. Fast forward thirty-three years and Super7 is prepared to correct Kenner's single biggest mistake by producing all five of the figures we should have had since 1979 (and you must know by now how important we consider 1979 the turning point in the world of action figures). In addition to this portion of their display, they also revealed the production of Burger King style Alien glasses and a pile of Transformers retro awesomeness. Weta Reveals San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives
Weta will be offering two exclusives based on the upcoming feature film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Collectors attending Comic-Con will want to stop by their booth to grab the Thorin Oakenshield with shield 1:6 scale polystone statue for $249. It will have an edition size split between SDCC (500 pieces) and Ring.Con in Germany (200 pieces). There will be a general release version of this statue without the shield released in October. In addition, they will be offering an art print titled "An Unexpected Journey" by Weta Workshop Conceptual Designer Gus Hunter. There will be 100 signed copies available for $60 and 400 unsigned copies for $50. Additional copies of the print will be made available in October. In order to keep track of everything being made available to attendees of the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, we've created this handy Exclusive Figure & Collectibles Checklist. This easy to print check list will be updated as more information becomes available. At the time of this story's publication, the list is still not 100% official, but all unofficial entries were meticulously researched. While we don't advise printing this first draft, it is still the most accurate list, and is a good source of information including prices, edition sizes, and booths each exclusive is available at. If you notice a missing or incorrect entry, please don't hesitate to let us know.
As long time CTR readers know, this is the fourth year we've offered attendees a printable SDCC Exclusive checklist. You'll notice that we are using the same colour-code format we introduced a couple of years back in order to help collectors keep focus. If you are planning on getting everything, we suggest printing the list in black and white, but if you are only looking at collecting one type of exclusive, a colour print will save you hours!
