Diamond Select Toys has announced two new four packs for their Marvel Comics Minimates. The first set is the Heroes To The Rescue set with Spider-Man (with Peter Parker reveal head), Wolverine (90's X-Men uniform), The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America (Steve Rogers reveal head). Of course, what are heroes without bad guys to thump? The second set solves that problem. Seems like this is going to be a Hot Toys heavy day on CTR, as they have just released a lot of images and information on their upcoming The Godfather Don Vito Corleone 1/6 scale figure. Click through to check out this remarkable figure. Full Report
While Hot Toys has announced that we will see more figures in the popular Movie Masterpiece collection based on The Dark Knight, Commissioner Jim Gordon will not be one of them. There is little doubt the Hong Kong based toy makers would be all over this figure, but a reliable source has revealed that Gary Oldman's likeness was something outside of the license parameters. The question is whether this is something that can change in time, or if it is carved in stone. Oldman's likeness was produced last year as part of NECA's Harry Potter line, but without official word from Hot Toys we can't speculate whether the issue is with the acclaimed actor or with the license itself. Watchmen Update: Best. Friday. Ever.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter Fox and Warner Bros. have resolved their differences and will be requesting the court case be dismissed. In a nutshell, the two studios have negotiated a price paid up front combined with a percentage of the film's take. Fox will not be involved in the distribution of The Watchmen. As it stands the release date will not be affected by the dispute. Follow the above link for more information. Full Report
Hot Toys To Produce A Third Joker Figure?
Earlier today, Hot Toys published a statement about their Batman: The Dark Knight 1/6 scale figure collection that sounds a lot like we're going to see a third figure based on Heath Ledger's superlative portrayal of Batman's most famous adversary. If they are going to make another one, it is our opinion that it will be the Nurse costume, but two other realistic possibilities would be his police disguise (sans makeup) from Commissioner Loeb's funeral, or the holding cell (no jacket, makeup wiped off forehead). If it is the latter, maybe it could be packed in with a chair or bench. Not a far fetched concept considering the Godfather figure revealed earlier today comes with a chair. We'll keep you posted as more information becomes available. Full Report

Rest In Piece Ricardo Montalban
The staff of CTR -and we're sure many of our readers- grew up deeply affected by thespian Ricardo Montalban. For many, his performance in the original Star Trek television series defined villainy in a pre-Darth Vader world. By the time The Wrath Of Khan, the second feature film in the franchise, was released in 1982 Montalban had forever left his mark on us; but as memorable as he was as James T. Kirk's ultimate nemesis, Montalban was so much more than simply Khan. In his nearly seventy years of acting, Ricardo has touched generations with his extraordinary ability to emote and his smoother-than-silk voice.
Yesterday morning Ricardo Montalban, 88, past away in his home in Los Angeles, California. He will forever be an important part of us all, and in everything that he was, he will be remembered as an stupendous artist and a massive influence. Rest in piece Mr. Montalban. We will always cherish what you have given us and you will always be truly missed deeply and dearly. Full Report

Movie news site, Dark Horizons has reported that Warner Brothers and Fox seem to be talking again, and speculation states that they may yet resolve their differences without affecting the feature film's release date. With the first bunch of collectibles coming next month, our fingers are crossed that we won't be playing with toys too long before seeing the movie. In related news, a new website with a familiar name has been launched, so at very least the marketing for the film hasn't slowed down any. Thankfully, the news of the pending lawsuit with Twentieth Century Fox, hasn't slowed down Warner Bros' marketing campaign for what is guaranteed to be the best comic book feature film adaptation of all times. Whether you are a die-hard fan or completely new to the story of the Watchmen, the new online feature narrated by the film's director Zack Snyder is 100% entertainment and well worth the watch. If Snyder's commentary on the characters and story weren't enough, the additional -yet to be released- footage will make today a great start to the new year! Full Report
